Getting started online: The checklist
If you're a tradesperson or run a small business, getting online can help you find more customers and grow your reputation. Here's a simple checklist to help you get started, even if you're not a tech expert.
1. Set up a professional email address
Use an email address with your business name (like info@yourbusiness.com) instead of a personal one. It looks more professional and builds trust.
2. Register your business on Google
Claim your free Google Business Profile so people can find you on Google Search and Maps. Add your contact details, opening hours, and photos of your work.
3. Create a simple website
Your website doesn't need to be fancy. Make sure it has:
- Your services
- Contact details
- Photos of your work
- Customer reviews
4. Collect and show customer reviews
Ask happy customers to leave reviews on Google or Facebook. Show these reviews on your website to build trust with new clients.
5. Set up a Facebook page
Many people look for local services on Facebook. Create a business page, add your details, and post photos of your work. Respond quickly to messages and comments.
6. Add your contact details everywhere
Make it easy for people to reach you. Put your phone number and email on your website, Google profile, and social media pages.
7. Keep your information up to date
Check your online details regularly. Update your hours, services, and contact info if anything changes.
